Current
Campaigns
The
Healthy Harvest Campaign will reduce pesticide exposure through food
by advocating for implementation of the Food Quality Protection Act and
promoting Farm to School Programs. This campaign also includes a cookbook
project and a monthly column on healthy eating at the Generation Green Web
site.
The
Healthy Schools Campaign advocates for parents on the national level
by pushing for funding for the federal Healthy and High Performance School
Grant Program. On the local level, we have organized a statewide coalition
in Illinois which advocates for policies to make schools environmentally
healthy places to learn and work. See www.healthyschoolscampaign.org
for more information on this.
The
Parent Outreach Program educates parents and other concerned citizens
about children’s environmental health issues and encourages them to
become involved in our policy initiatives. Last year, our members sent
10,000 letters advocating for a ban on arsenic treated wood—and got it.
