Take Action!

Promoting a “Cleaner” Way to Clean

Currently, there are no overarching issues or pending legislative activity related to home cleaning products that require the attention of Generation Green or specific action by its members.

However, that doesn’t mean that there is nothing the staff and members of Generation Green can do, individually or in groups.

Certainly, you can share with neighbors, family and friends the information you learn about safer, less-toxic cleaning options at home. Spreading such knowledge not only helps the environment and our children, but it will help increase the dollars spent on safer products.

Generation Green has always maintained that one of the best ways to effect change is to vote with your pocketbook. If fewer and fewer people buy toxic products, there will be less of a market for them and more incentive for companies to provide “greener” options.

Also, you may find that your local schools, the churches or temples you attend, and other places where kids and their families gather could benefit by replacing toxic cleaners with safer ones. If you are informed about the effective cleaning alternatives, then you can do more than just say “Stop using those poisons.” You can actually give them options and choices.

Capitol Hill and statehouses are not the only places where the Generation Green family can bring change. As with so many other things, good habits start in the home, and good ideas spread far by word of mouth.
